Sprint’s Palm Pre: AT&T wants the phone next

AT&T has been having a very interesting conversation with host Walt Mossberg of The Wall Street Journal, and said that he can see AT&T offering the Palm Pre once Sprint’s exclusive deal with Palm is up. This is the first time that we have heard that other carriers will be allowed to sell the Pre, but we are not sure how long Sprint has a contract with Palm.

As we know, Palm is struggling with its business, so you would have thought that they would have offered the Pre smartphone to multiple carriers instead of the worst of the bunch, Sprint. There was also talk that AT&T would be getting another Palm Web OS smartphone, the Palm EOS.

Cnet News said that for now we will have to make do with the Sprint version of the Palm Pre, which is due for release on June 6. The latest smartphone, which will be doing battle with the Apple iPhone, 3G will also be available from stores, such as Best Buy, Radio Shack, and Wal-Mart.
