The Twitter account of Palm has just tweeted about a test of the camera on the new Pre smartphone. Palm was out and about taking a number of pictures with the new handset, and it was not long before Palm uploaded a photo for the world to see.
The picture was of someone enjoying a horsey ride on a kids ride, and as you would expect, the 3-megapixel camera is a bit shocking. Palm has been a bit optimistic over the performance of the camera, and we are now seeing that such a low megapixel was a mistake.
According to Engadget with the image blown up to full size, things get a bit muddy as well as some nasty artifacting. Ok so we do not expect the best details from a camera phone, but when you see LG and Samsung offering cell phones with more than 8-megapixels cameras, you have to wonder why Palm and Apple do not offer the same with the Pre and iPhone.
In other news, we reported yesterday that the price of the Palm Pre depends on where you live.
