Next Xbox (aka 720) and 300,000 simultaneous online users
By: Alan Ng | May 28, 2009 | 2 CommentsIt has recently been revealed that Microsoft are planning to create a team of engineers that will help to create a game on the future Xbox (720) console that will allow for 300,000 players to play simultaneously.
According to this LazyGamer report, Microsoft have made several job postings searching for a ‘backend server engineer’ to aid them with future first party Microsoft titles.
One of the requirements on this job reads: ” building a backend capable of hosting a 300,000 player game in real-time with real money on the line”
It’s certainly an exciting prospect, reading the job description above. By ‘real-money’, do they mean to include some sort of Gambling? I wouldn’t imagine so.
