If the rumors are true that the new iPhone being released in the summer of 2009 will offer video chat, then AT&T’s move from wireless 3G network to the faster HSPA 7.2 later in the year will help to make the new feature even better.
The expected release date of the new Apple iPhone should be some time in June, and even if video chat is not a feature of the new handset, AT&T users will still welcome it. ComputerWorld has been talking to an AT&T spokeswoman, but would not comment about whether the new iPhone will offer HSPA 7.2 support.
She did however say that a number of HSPA 7.2-compatible laptop cards and smartphones would be introduced throughout the year. A number of analysts who believe that AT&T’s HSPA 7.2 plans are just the same as other wireless carriers to help offer better support for smartphone wireless traffic, but that does not mean it will be ideal for video chat.
