Chrysler LLC CEO: Sale to Fiat SpA is best deal
By: Peter Chubb | May 28, 2009 | Leave a CommentRobert Nardelli, Chrysler’s LLC CEO has said in a court filing that the sale of the automaker to a group led by Fiat SpA is the best deal for all of those involved. He said that the sale could help to strengthen Chrysler for the long term.
According to Bloomberg, the court approval of the current $2 billion offer from a group that include Italian automaker Fiat, United Auto Workers union benefit trust as well as the U.S. and Canadian governments would make it possible for Chrysler to reorganize itself and do what is best for the business, and that is to start building cars once more.
This will only happen with a quick sale, anything taking too long will make it much harder for Chrysler to come out of this and preserve its current business. There was a hearing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court yesterday in New York to approve the sale of Chrysler, the hearing is set to resume today.
