
After GM and Chrysler Dealerships Closing: The Road Ahead
By: Peter Chubb | May 28, 2009 | Leave a CommentThe closing of GM and Chrysler dealerships and the impending bankruptcy filing would produce leaner automakers. There is a problem though, these companies will still have huge debt and will also damage their image.
BusinessWeek has been looking at the road ahead for these dealers and have some very interesting views on things. It was back in March when the Barack Obama Administration said that it was to bail out General Motors (GM) and Chrysler; the President added that the two companies would stand on their own.
Obama’s team are now hoping that these troubled automakers can use an accelerated bankruptcy process, in the hope of transforming themselves in to smaller and nimbler companies who can then go on and compete in the global marketplace.
