Nokia had hoped that the launch of its Ovi Store would be something to remember, and it was certainly that, but for all the wrong reasons. The launch day of the service that is set to go head-to head with the Apple iTunes App Store was a bit of a fiasco.
This just shows that the biggest cell phone maker in the world can also get it wrong. TechCrunch reports that the Nokia Ovi Store is suffering with some server problems and performance issues. The slow homepage is just the start of the problems
If you were to do a search for an application, the result is often zero or the page will even freeze on you. Nokia has put the blame on the server, but it seems that the problems are much deeper than just a lazy server. One thing is certain, Nokia have a lot of work to do, while Apple sit back and laugh.
