I hope it’s a PS3 exclusive, but the fact the countdown timer expires on the day of Microsoft’s E3 Press Conference makes me a little nervous it might do an FFXIII!

I think it’s taken for granted that it will be a PS3 exclusive.

MGS4 did not meet the expectations of Konjamia, there is no way he would make the task even harder by bring the last-genbox360 into the mix and all the additional problems that would cause…

“MGS4 did not meet the expectations of Konjamia, there is no way he would make the task even harder by bring the last-genbox360 into the mix and all the additional problems that would cause…” The only expectations it didn’t meet were sales expectations. That is the single biggest reason it could go multiplatform.

  4. Josh says:

How did MGS4 fail to meet sales expectations? It has already outsold MGS3 and it’s on track to match MGS2’s LTD sales figures.

    • David says:

if fell off the charts after the first week. What planet do you live on, it was expected to be a major system mover. possibly the biggest selling PS3 game, and it was out of the top 20 after its first month. It was a big sales disappointment. there is no way around it.

      • Josh says:

Who in Konami cares about selling PS3’s and whether or not MGS4 was a “system seller”? MGS4 has already surpassed MGS3 and it’s still selling. MGS4 could surpass 5 million copies, in fact, it may surpass MGS2 which would make it the most successful Metal Gear game ever released.

        • David says:

Well Konami cares, you say it could surpass 5 million copies, well if it were multiplatform then it could surpass 10 million copies. What would you rather sell 5 million or 10 million. With the cost of production, at 5 million they probably just pass breakeven. Figure 5 million at $60, thats gross revenue of 300 million. figure there margin at 30% that is 90 million. Estimates to produce run pretty close to that figure. so margins may be a little higher or a little lower. but in any case, if you double the sales then each addition copy sold is goes straight to the bottom line.

MGS series has always been exclusive to Playstation (besides a brief installment of MGS2 on the Xbox) so I would lean towards it being exclusive to the PS3. And who is Konjamia? Do you mean Hideo Kojima? At the time MGS4 was released I’d say there was 16 million PS3’s on the marker…how is selling 1 copy to every 4 PS3 owners a bad thing? I’m sure Kojima knew that in advance. He doesn’t do anything without thinking it through, his games can sure account for that. And I think the countdown ends on Sunday night around 5PM central, surely Microsoft’s press conference is not on a Sunday? I could be wrong.

Actually the Metal Gear series started on the MSX which is a Microsoft designed console. Then it went to Nintendo, so who knows where its going.

  7. Me says:

Um actually no, the Metal Gear Solid (key word SOLID) has only been on the Playstation.

  8. me says:

Oops, just noticed the title said Metal gear, not metal gear solid. My bad.

  9. Ray says:

The counter ends on the 31st. Not June 2nd. Do your math. It will stay on the ps3, he said the next project will be even bigger then MGS4. If MGS4 was too big for the Xbox how will an even bigger MGS5 fit? Also the fact that the SONY editon of famitsu game mag is supposed to publish an interview with kojima about the new metal gear next week, and the xbox edition has no such interview says it all. Kojima productions has only done metal gear solid titles for Sony. Google their portfolio. Iove how people talk about “kojimas mgs4 expectations” yet none of you know the man your work for him.

  10. sinn1 says:

Actually you are wrong he is referred to as solid snake in the the second game for the MSX called Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake.
