Chrysler Dealers Fight Closing and Fiat Sale

More than 2,000 angry Chrysler dealers have united in protest, starting with the Jacob Javits Center, this past Tuesday. They are aiming to protest against Chrysler’s decision to close 798 franchises as well as the companies’ planned sale to Fiat.

According to RecordOnline, Chrysler are planning to sell the majority of their assets to a group led by Italy’s Fiat Group, as part of the bankruptcy protection program.

The lawyer who is representing some of the New York dealers who had their contracts terminated by Chrysler had this to say on the matter:

It became clear to us that Chrysler does not see the wisdom of terminating 25 percent of its dealers. It really wasn’t Chrysler’s decision. They are under enormous pressure from the President’s automotive task force.”

The Chrysler hearing will take place on June 3rd. Full story in the link above.
