Tomah’s GM dealerships not on closing list, safe
By: Peter Chubb | May 26, 2009
GM dealerships across the U.S. were waiting for a letter to say that they were one of the 1,100 dealerships to close; thankfully, Tomah’s general Motors dealership was not one of them. They did not appear on the dreaded closing list, which means that they are safe.
It was not just Tomah GM dealership that escaped the list; Larkin’s Pontiac-Cadillac-GMC and Vander Meer Chevrolet Buick were also safe. The Tomah Journal reports that letters were sent out to one in five GM dealerships around the country towards the end of last week.
In the letters, it said that they had been judged on sales, location, customer service scores, condition of facilities, amongst other criteria. Those dealers who have not been contacted expect GM to renew their contracts when they expire next year in 2010.
