Party Machine: PS3 vs Wii‎

At article over at PS3Extreme has suggested and started a debate about the Playstation 3 overtaking the Nintendo Wii as the best ‘party console.’ They question the reasons why people generally see the Wii as the number one console for socially related gatherings and state that the Playstation 3 does all what the Wii does and more.

Head over to PSXExtreme to read the article in full. Call it a blast at the Nintendo Wii if you will, but the author does make some valid points we reckon. It’s not just the PS3 that is expanding with it’s multimedia capabilities though, as the Xbox 360 has it’s fair share of social apps too.

    My Wii lovin’ neighbors were pretty dumbfounded when they saw that my PS3 did everything their Wii did, and loads more.

    I slipped their holiday photos from on their SD card into a USB reader, popped it into the PS3, and it did a very classy slideshow, they were gobsmacked, I showed them the browser, the games, the Blu-Ray, the media streaming, their only response was, “the Wii’s got motion sensing..”, I promptly fired up Warhawk and High Velocity bowling and they didn’t really know what to say… :-)

    Needless to say, they sold the Wii, and bought a PS3 a couple of weeks afterwards, and I can see the husband status is playing Killzone2 most evenings :-)

    lol same here when friends that come to my house and see my ps3 their jaws drop lol plus i have the 60gb one, they have nothing to say but say its so cool too bad they have a 360 or wii lol PS3 RULES

    the ps3 is a much better console, even the 360 is better, the wii is for kids, look at the games, very few good first person shooters, its geared for kids, graphics suck compared to ps3 and 360, some like the wii controller, i dont when i want to workout i will go to the gym, i like regular controllers for my games, thats me. in my eyes the wii is not even on the same level as the ps3 and 360, its like comparing apples to oranges
