My Phone: Microsoft’s new service for Windows Mobile phones
By: Peter Chubb | May 21, 2009 | Leave a CommentMicrosoft has recently launched My Phone, a new over-the-air sync service just for cell phones running on Windows Mobile. The beta version is now open to the public, and the My Phone development team is hoping that they download it and help with the testing.
My Phone allows you to sync your Windows Mobile device with the ‘cloud’ using a Wi-Fi or 3G connection. You need to be using version 6 or higher. My Phone is now offering users 200MB of storage; this is not a massive amount, but just enough to backup essential data, such as SMS messages and contacts.
The Mirror explains that synchronization happens in the background, so you know that your data on your Windows Mobile device is safe while going about your daily business. If you lose your cell phone, then you can use My Phone to restore everything on your new Windows Mobile device.
