Microsoft Windows SideShow: Will gamers adopt?
By: Alan Ng | May 21, 2009 | Leave a CommentMicrosoft are hoping that their revamped Windows Sideshow system will appeal to gamers this time around after failing to impress people with their first outing of the secondary sub display concept.
According to SlashGear, the new idea which Microsoft are planning will involve a 6.4-inch touchscreen, which will have the ability to switch between landscape and portrait modes. The idea will introduce game specific controls and place main emphasis on the main display.
SlashGear gives the example of how the concept would work in say an RPG title. Gamers would be able to use the secondary display to bring up a touch enabled inventory menu, freeing up the main display for primary gameplay. Other examples of the use of the secondary display would be a ‘rear-view mirror’ in a racing title for example.
It’s certainly an interesting idea. More details over at Slashgear and more pics. Let us know what you make of Microsoft’s Sideshow plans.
