Now Official: Palm Pre Release Date and Price

After what seems like a lifetime, we now have the official release date and price for the Palm Pre. This latest smartphone will go on sale in the U.S. on June 6 and will have a price of $199.99, which is after a $100 mail-in rebate. This is on a two-year Sprint Nextel agreement.

The Palm Pre has been the hot topic for months, and is seen to be the one device that holds the fortunes of not only Palm but also Sprint in their hands as well. This is the first smartphone from Palm to feature the much talked about WebOS.

Palm gave us a taste of the Pre back in January at CES in Las Vegas, the handset wet down a storm there. Palm shares were down in early trading in New York this morning; it is assumed that news of the Palm Pre release will help increase share prices.

To repeat, the official news is that the Palm Pre will be released on June 6, and will have a price of $199.99.
