New custom-built app tracks iPhone and students
By: Peter Chubb | May 19, 2009 | Leave a CommentIt is a common saying that you do not get anything for nothing, well that is the case with the free iPhone’s that Tokyo-based university Aoyama Gakuin gave to their students. It seems as if there are new custom-built apps installed that tracks its students.
Crunchgear explains that the free iPhone is going to be used as a tracking device, the university will control the app and can tell if a student is on campus or not. The idea behind this is to prevent cheating during roll calls.
The phone is not used just for that though, students will now be able to use this smartphone for digital lectures, allowing the students to do their homework as well as taking tests.
A total of 550 students and staff have received a free Apple iPhone, but it is thought that the device will be made available to all students at the start of the new semester.
