As we start to get over the fact that we finally have a release date for the Palm Pre, we now have another rumor about the new iPhone; it is thought that Apple will release the updated phone on July 17 2009. The new iPhone has only a minor upgrade, which you can see from the specs below.
Wired explains that a source close to the Apple hardware team approached Apple iPhone Apps, and told them that the team possess some knowledge of the new iPhone, as well as the specifications and its release date.
Many of the recent rumors seem to be true, such as a new 3.2-megapixel camera, digital compass and a video recorder, as well as a few more cool features. Let us hope that this rumor turns out to be true, as I can certainly do with a new iPhone now.

Minor upgrade?
The OLED screen alone makes it not a MINOR upgrade. With those specs it will kill Pre.

Rex, I totaly agree with you. The OLED part has me sold. Honestly, I don’t even know why the Pre has so much hype…
Obviously slanted comments but none the less a decent comparison. Turn by turn should be available on Pre via a purchased app. Some people prefer physical buttons verses a touch screen (which can also “wear out”). The biggest selling points on the Pre is the ability to run multiple programs simultaneously, Palm’s synergy, and combined messaging. All in all though, the Iphone is standing above the Pre in a lot of ways. OLED, Itunes, and apps alone are a bigger selling point over what Palm is offering.
-The palm pre will have turn by turn.
give pre some time
-muti-tasking is what sets the pre apart from the iphone.
-When you turn your phone on will you be thinking…hmmm, glad i got the oled….battery life should be similar FYI
- Iphone had to start somewhere…they didn’t always have all these apps
-itunes is rumored to sync with the pre
-for the fools who care about a phone camera, the pre will have a flash
….and here is the big one!!!!!
-AT&T is a terrible network; Sprint has At&t by the balls on coverage.
Many of these “specs” for the 2009 new iPhone have ben WIDELY debunked already all over the web. Did you do ANY research on this whatsoever before posting this? Apple logo will probably not glow. No rubber backing, etc. It’s called “journalism school”….look into it.
this is good phone I really like this. But I heard that apple did not annouced the 4g technology yet is that true.
Lol, well, the bubble’s been burst. New iPhone 3g S April 19, 2009. No FM transmitter or glowing Apple Logo. Same look. 2-3x faster. I’m sold.
