If Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) thought that its $1.44 billion fine that was imposed on it by the EU was the end of the matter, then they had better think again. This looks to be just the start of their troubles in Europe. PC World explains this in more detail.
Now that the EU has delivered its verdict on Intel, we can now expect chipmaker rival AMD (NYSE:AMD) to follow up with its own civil lawsuit. The floodgates have now been opened, so we can expect to see Intel’s competitors to pursue their case for damages.
It is not just other chipmakers that were affected by Intel, OEM were also injured. AMD have lost the benefits of a competitive marketplace, so now Intel was able to name its price, the like of Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) , HP (NYSE:HPQ) and IBM (NYSE:IBM) will also want to sue as well.
