HP Battery Recall: Companies helped with Discovery
By: Peter Chubb | May 19, 2009
The HP recall of 70,000 lithium batteries is a very big job, one that will be hard to do for a number of companies as they try to discover which HP / Compaq notebooks they have in their inventory, which is affected by this battery recall.
These companies have to try to figure out what machines they have in their organization and where they are. IT World explains that for anyone with a network of more than 500 notebooks, that have a huge task on their hands, and for those with no inventory records, finding the location will be a long process.
However, good Discovery will be able to ease the task; the system will be able to help IT managers with an accurate inventory of what PCs they have on their network. There are a number of tools to choose from, take Centennial Discovery; this can even identify individual models.
