The Auto industry seems to be getting worse, General Motors (NYSE:GM) have announced four more dealerships to add to its closing list. GM had already announced the closure of 1,100 dealerships in the U.S., this amounts to one-sixth of the total of GM dealerships.
General Motors has said that they plan to eliminate these dealerships, by not renewing their franchise contracts when they come up for renewal next year. Mercury News reports that the four other dealerships to be added to the GM closure list are Courtesy Chevrolet in San Jose, St. Claire Cadillac in Santa Clara, Saturn of Capitol Expressway of San Jose and Stewart Chevrolet Cadillac in Colma.
GM are not the only automaker to be shutting down dealerships, we reported a few days ago that Chrysler are to close 789 franchises. This has certainly angered those who will be affected, but they do not intend to go down without a fight, and have started their own legal fight.
