Preview of New Palm Pre: Pretty Impressive‎

NPR thought that they would head over to Sunnyvale and visit the Palm offices, just so that they could get a preview of the Palm Pre smartphone. Laura Sydell, who writes on NPR, has asked herself the same question that most of us have asked, “Can the Palm Pre rescue Palm from the recycle bin of history”?

Sydell like most other who have managed to try out the Pre said that she was impressed with the new device. The Pre is small and fits nicely in the Palm of your hand, I am not certain myself if the design is right for the phone, it looks very similar to the old Samsung D600.

Although the Palm Pre is packed with a host of new features, you have to wonder it that is enough to save Palm. The problem that the Pre has is it will only being available on Sprint, and we all know that this is not the most popular network.

NPR has closed its article by saying that Palm does not have the same loyal following as Apple, and the Pre does not have the same sex appeal as the Apple iPhone.

First off Sprint is not a bad network. Yes there was a bad stigma but no one will let it go. That was years ago and they have vastly improved customer service and coverage. AT&T dropped calls haha and service blows. IPhone problems, how about all the returns. IPhone doesn’t have a loyal following it is the cool thing right now. These followers of the IPhone are not Apple fans only fans of the phone.
Palm has a huge fan base always has. Palm just hasn’t had a product to keep the Palm Fans loyal. I am a Palm fan and have been for a long time since my Palm M100. I think the Pre and products to follow with the web OS will increase the Palm fan base. IPhones will be a teenagerd phone for the cool factor and something to occupy their periods of boredom.

I only hear and see detrimental comments about Sprint. I tried ATT and Verizon for long periods in this region ( NY Catskills) but the only decent service comes from Sprint.
