New iPhone In 2009: release date expectations

Apple and its rumored new iPhone certainly has some big shoes to fill, as the iPhone 3G had amazing release date expectations, and the sales certainly backed it up. The 3G was the second version of the iPhone, and when it was unveiled at WWDC 2008, it seemed that Apple iPhone fans was prepared to do anything to get hold of the latest smartphone.
The reason that it did so well was for a few reasons, the first was because of the 3G, allowing for faster access online, and the improved speaker was also very welcome. The phone also felt lighter, making it feel like it was not weighing you down as much.
The next iPhone, which is rumored to be launched in the summer, has a lot to prove, and if our recent posts are to go by, we are in for a treat. Such as the improved camera, and improved processor and memory. The new iPhone is going to be centered around gaming more; this is evident with the improved graphics accelerator.
The new iPhone has one big hurdle to jump if it wants to beat the iPhone 3G and that is the state of the economy. People do not have as much money to spend, and that is something that is out of Apple’s hands.

Sounds good, but do you think the new iphone will be a complete new launch of something big and better, or just an upgrade?
Will this be a whole new iPhone with major modifications? Or will there just be a few updates? If you don’t know it’s fine… I really hope this comes out because I want to get it!
i was thinking about buyin the iphone 3G on payg this weekend. (i dont want to go pay monthly for issues i’ve had in the past) …but if there is a new one coming out i might wait…do you think they will release this on payg like they did the 3G?
I’ve heard mixed rumors about just an upgrade (faster processor and more space–16GB and 32GB, no more 8GB). But I’ve also heard other major things like video recording (most likely to happen), HD video playback…
What I would like to know is an estimate release date because I’m going month-to-month right now until it’s released, which I hope is within the next couple months because I’m pretty impatient…
I read the release date is 7/17. I wanted one so badly but I will wait.
Why do they keep asking if its going to be better than the iPhone 3G? they’re both made by Apple so why do they care? Either way Apple is raking in the money at the end of the day.
It would be just an updgrade….
