List of Chrysler Dealers: Fox Hills among nearly 800
By: Peter Chubb | May 18, 2009 | Leave a CommentWe reported a few days ago that almost 800 Chrysler dealers would be closing their doors; well we are afraid to report that Fox Hills Chrysler Jeep on Ann Arbor Road is one of them. HomeTownlife reports that the dealership was notified on Thursday morning of Chrysler’s plan.
Jim Schebil has owned the Fox Hills Chrysler dealer since the early 1980’s, Schebil has refused to talk about the matter, and you can understand why. The dealership has 54 employees, and they look certain to be out of a job by June 9, this is the date that Chrysler has served.
There are 789 dealerships in total that will have to close their doors, which is a result of being included in a motion filed Thursday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York. The motion has a hearing set for June 3.
The 789 closures is about a quarter of Chrysler 3,200 dealerships, those dealerships that remain make up 87 percent of Chrysler’s sales. Those that are closing are the underperforming dealers.
