It has been widely speculated that Verizon and Apple may come to an agreement over the next version of the iPhone. However, Verizon’s hopes of bringing out a LTE handset in 2010 may prove to be an unlikely proposition due to the silicon chips that are required.
According to Telephonyonline, most chip vendors will not have the LTE silicon chip ready in time for a 2010 release. They have said that while it isnt completely impossible, the chances of an LTE handset such as the iPhone 4G in 2010 are very unlikely.
For now, it looks as if Verizon will have to focus on securing a deal with Apple for the next iPhone. Dont forget AT&T in all of this. They still have the current deal with Apple for the iPhone so it looks as if all will be revealed at WWDC next month.
