PS3 Update 2.76: New firmware download only minor

We can now confirm to you that the Playstation 3 firmware has been updated. Update 2.76 is available to download right now, but is only a minor update according to Sony.

Eric Lempel stated over at the official PS Blog: ‘This is a minor update that improves the playback quality of some PS3 format software.’

What are you waiting for then, go and grab it. Maybe Sony have a better firmware in store for us at E3 2009, we have already heard rumors that something big is coming. We can always hope anyway.

As always, give us your feedback on the new firmware. The update is live already.

It broke mine too…mine won’t read any disc I put in it and the bitch from sony told me that hers works fine and she doesn’t know where I’m getting my information from when I told her other people had the same problem but that I’m wrong so if I want them to fix it they’ll charge $150. Fuck Sony!

  4. Hekt says:

It broke my ps3 too… It won’t read any kind of disks at all…. GREAT UPDATE SONY!!! Do they even test thier updates before release….

  5. TIK says:

it broke my ps3 it loads the blu-ray movies but not the games….cant play COD4 , KZ2, RB2, R2 :( cant play anythin!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. bluelandcruiser says:

broke mine as well won,t read any discs no icon appears we all need to contact sony so they have to sort this out, all of our ps3s can,t have stopped reading discs by coincidence with this update

  7. 1223 says:

Nothing happened to mine or any of my friends’ Playstations (11 of them, counting mine) nor my cousin (so 12) plus everyone on my friend list (around 20 people). So…that’s 40 systems that are perfectly fine, and they’re all from different places around the world. I just think you guys were doin somethin illegal with your systems and that update booked your cheating asses. Either that or you’re jus hear to post false messages about PS3 since you’ve got nothing to play cuz your 360 broke down - again.

  8. Tim says:

Go kill yourself 1223, you’re a dipshit! The only thing I did wrong was buy another piece of shit sony product. You’re a complete jackass for thinking that just because no one you know had the same problem that we were doing something illegal…if I knew you I’d beat the shit out of you you faggot

  9. bluelandcruiser says:

if downloading an update is illegal then thats what i did my system has never been tampered with and had only light use. Just cos u have been lucky and updated (as i have every time til now) without hitch doesn,t mean myself, and other people on here, who now have basically a web browser can,t voice our opinion that this 2.76 update has stopped our machines reading discs.I do own a 360 which has broken down twice but at least microsoft repaired it free of charge cos they acknowledge it was there fault it happened in the first place.

  10. The Future of Sega says:

When will ALL PS3 have the rumble enabled option!!!!!! How long do we have to wait for that!!!!!! COME ON SONY STOP GOOFING AROUND!!!! IF YOU CAN’T GET THE JOB DONE THEN QUIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
