E3 2009: Bigger PS3 2.80 update maybe and wishlist

the PS3 is a mentle peice of kit… powerful

ingame music
all XMB features to be unlocked while ingame
the ability to play video and then return to a game instantly(pausing a game to play video)
ability to let the controller charge while PS3 is on standby(why would we charge the thing when playing!!!???)
faster ingame XMB… very possible
cleaner video and/or mic
breathe some life into PSN! shit all on there!!! need some free games, demos etc

if i think of others ill add em on…

I want my ps3 40gb to be able to play ps2 games!! I’m sure a boffin out there can make it happen! I miss San Andreas, GTA 4 Sucked big time! Love everything else about my ps3 though!

i have a newer 80gb model that has no emotion chip built in, PS3 could run PS1 and PS2 games with an emulation rather easily… just something Sony needs to take the time to actually do.

make the ps3 do better multi tasking like listening to music in the background of almost anything, ik there’s a lot more but i can’t think of any. The ps3 should definatley be capable of doing it, unless you somehow lied about its power lol

I have a 1st gen uk 60gb, which can play ps1 and ps2 games.
I am pretty sure the motion chip was included in 1st gen console around the globe, so find one on ebay Rob and Tom.

Multiple simultaneous profile login for multiplayer, internet use whilst a game is loaded and (if firmware can achieve it) the ability for controls to charge when ps3 is off (xbox 360 style)

i want that when someone signs in u hear a little sound to alert cuz sumtimes u dont even realise sum one signs in and i wud also like in game chat wid any one on ure friends list and wen i say chat i mean wid headset

How about an update that stops the internet browser from constantly crashing when I go to sites like IGN? That would be AMAZING!!

Sony only care about the stuff we do not want. They’ve got to make up ways to give us more unwanted and pointless features we do not want or really care about… ie: 2.70 “internet search for game installed” pointless and pathetic new menu option…

I want them to update the really rubbish browser make it faster to change go back and forward and load them quicker… and to beable to use Facebook and support for Flash and Silverlite (if Microsoft is kind enough…)

But most deffo – Backwards Compatibility and Ingame xmb music perhaps a new type of xmb menu – a refresh version coz its gettin a lil bit old.

& Let me backup all my game saves, even PSN games but not from or to a password protected Login without the password.

Powered USB ports whilst on standby, if possible.

i would like to see

1) xmb any option while in game, when friends in game.
2) if you have the same game you should be able to join their game with an option on the friends list (an option when you click your friends game)

3) music in background during anything
4) alerts (sign in, updates found, friends joining the game ur in – to name a few)

5) charge feature while in stand-by
6) email client (like thunderbird, where you have email with hotmail or yahoo and you can have it set to your PSN account

7) when downloading, the status should also show speed you d/l @

I’d like remote play fixed so i can turn the playstation on from outside the house.I want to use my playstation like a slingbox but dont fancy leaving it powered on for 2 weeks at a time when im away. So many people are having trouble with this, Remote play only works well at home

What you on about speed up teh internet, how can sony sort your own DSL line out ? it has gigabit connection what do want to have added !

I just want more codecs to play and the ability to make playlists from remotly stored media, and a decent search as well it takes ages to scroll through all my music and some times it doenst sort it correctly so finding things can be a nightmare.

Internet borwser needs work tho, it crashes a lot and and cannot view many sites due to outdated flash etc

Firmware 2.76 made my ps3 stop spinning disc

Automatic Trophy synchronisation
Confirmation message for starting programs like Home and LWP; the amount of times I accidentaly boot one of these up is so annoying so a confimation message of some sorts would be nice before start up!!

TBH though, Sony plan their update content months in advance so suggested stuff here might be round probably after 3.00 but I do hope 2.80 has some good stuff to mess about with :p

2.76 FW broke my ps3. Since the day of update and flawless completion of the download, my system does not read any form of media disks. No its not the blu-ray lens. I had it checked. Actually I had it checked for all the fan boys that stated to me that firmware can’t disable your blu-ray drive. WOW were all those idiots wrong. Well I expected that, figure half the people on the ps3 forums are like 12 and up. To everybody with this problem, your ps3 not reading disks after 2.76, all I can say is wait to see if the new update will fix your system. DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT pay Sony 150 dollars to fix unless your a jackass that likes to waste money or rich and money doesn’t matter. Personally I am both, but one thing I hate the most is being lied to and cheated out of money. Oh and by the way I have been able to simulate the problem with 4 other ps3′s. From my testing I believe that 2.76 was created to get rid of 1st gen ps3′s that had Backwards compatibility hardwired into them. Now being that I am a lead designer for APPLE, I can say that my findings are more then just a hypothesis.Unfortunately there is no way for me to fix this problem cause of the PS3′s horrible internal design. Wow I thought PC’s were made like shit…..I was wrong. Damn I wish everything worked as well as my APPLE COMPUTERS……. SOny, stop being cheap and pay people to do your testing.

what is sony thinking god XBOX Live is destroying ps3 for let me see 1= in-game music, 2=in game voice chat,and 3= just the absoluty easyness of finding friends i mean wtf thats what everyone wants and they’re giving us “photo gallery,” i mean people have been asking for two years now for an update with them just like the PSP and youtube i wouldn’t suggest anyone get a PS3 until sony finally realize what the people want

ALL 60GB Models play PS1, PS2, CD & DVDs, Any other PS3 plays everythin but this but rarely some cant play Blu-ray DVDs as they’re region locked

Xbox is getting Sky Tv in i think ps3 should do something like that.

I love my ps3… but i think we need a better online friend system, to join a friend’s game etc. Also the ability to play Avi files would be nice =D

Sony Sony Sony were is the in game music for all games. i tired of hearing the same game music for my games need my own music so i can jam out you know. Do something and fast. Like how am i going to PLAY B3YOND if i cant even play my own music in games. XBOX is kick’n ass with it, don’t take it sit’n down stand up and fight back. GET TO IT SONY.

ps3 cant fully multi-task with RAM issues! thats the problem guys! thats why other OS installed on the ps3 have to run on a buffer frame! sony should think about upgrading their RAM problem! maybe sell External Ram that can plug into the USB slot which they could sell for 60 bucks would solve problems like the xmb loadin up faster! also we would be able to surf the web while playing games and listening to music! this is where sony really messed up. other than ram the ps3 is powerful. if the RAM was better the system would have opened doors so to speak. before ps3 came out they were sayin all this stuff that it was gonna have that it didnt! they said video chat while playing your games! i know one game that does that. high stakes poker! that it. we should beable to video chat in any game. also our ps3 cams should beable to be used on the web too not just PSN!! we should have cross game texting and voice messenger! while playing. we should have video messages too. Sony should also implement the 3D BIOS update 2

Sony’s lack of support is getting very Frustrating I hope we finally see XMB for all the games I own I have over 20! And still most of them don’t have this feature I also want to begging for this since HOME started VidZone!! well what i think sony should do is yes add ingame music and yes add all ingame xmb features and backwards compatibility and faster xmb and cross game chat also i think sony should have a feature where all games like rag doll kung fu where we can make you tube videos and allow us to upload them to our page also have a software where we can color and draw on our photos and use a photo for our online ids and allow us to switch users ingame because it sucks to have to quit game and switch users because i have 2 psn ids

Rob; I’ve been playing PS2 games on my PS3 for many, many, many months now. In fact well over a year. ‘Superbike’ is an example. Final Fantasy X11; and One of the famous zombie shoot em up games; It’s late and I forget the PS2 title.
