How often do you get someone like Oprah’s personal trainer, Bob Greene working on a game. Well this is exactly what has happened with the new EA Sports Wii Active. The game is fun and offers the user an inexpensive way to maintain a regimen of physical fitness and healthy living.
The game has a wide variety of interactive activities as well as exercises; these are then linked to an ever-changing circuit training routine. This particular routine targets the muscles of the upper and lower body, as well as giving you a great cardio workout for a healthy start.
EA Sports Wii Active offers the user a perfect way to keep fit, and can be enjoyed by the whole family. The game has been designed around the standard Wii Remote/Nunchuck, and what makes the game so different to other exercise games in the past is that it is more focused physical activities.

Having problems with the nanchuk receiving signals while I do my workout. Any fixes? I have tried several times to reposition, adjust etc. it still does not register.
You have to pay close attention to the position they tell you to hold the remote and chuck. You also have to make sure to hold the position for the alloted time and stand still after each rep. They do work I do the bands had trouble at first with the squats and some of the band moves but once you get the hang of it it works and counts the reps correctly. In some of the band rotations you go up and down you must complete all of the moves before it registers. It will not just register on the up position or the down position, I cant remember which one this was on. Good Luck.
Hi,
I am having the same problem..Lunges and Squats don’t register…
I was having that problem also. I stopped using the bands cause it was really bad with the bands. Now I use dumbells, it took some getting use to, but now I can use the lbs that i should be using to do the exercises. Sometimes you really have to push through the move to make it register. Other than that I absolutely love my wii active. It has me doing moves I know I wouldn’t other wise do.
My nunchuck wouldn’t register for squats, lunges etc… Turns out I had it facing the wrong way. Make sure the toggle is facing to the right. if your nunchuck is functioning properly, it should work.
This is a great product. It’s nice to get a real challenging workout from my Wii for once! Don’t get me wrong, Wii Fit is great if you’re really out of shape or just begining, but you plateau after a while. Wii Fit just became too easy for me, and I enjoy this program much more.
I’m having trouble with it registering my running, knee ups and butt kicks on the track. Any suggestions?
After playing around with it more and making sure the nunchuck toggle is on the right it worked. Sometimes it still doesn’t register but making sure my form is correct helps.
I’m enjoying this thing but why no multiplayer mode on the 30 day challenge?
I am struggling to use the resistance belt for the moves. The demonstration seems to manage to turn the straps so they don’t get caught round the wrists, but in reality, that doesn’t happen. Also find the hand loops are uncomfortable and rubbing, it’s just as well that none of the exercises are too long. Any suggestions on how to use the belt better?
Great workout, but can anyone recommend a good sequence to customise my own workout with a mixture of everything but not too much using the strap?
Pick a preset workout of choice and x out squats and lunges. Running and walking seems to work without leg straps. Also did all sports and didn’t need leg straps.
It’s faster for me to choose preset workouts and x out what we didn’t want. I’ve done this several times because we only have one leg strap of course. I also played with my nieces and nephews this way cause the leg straps is too big for them.
If you don’t know how to x out exercises, after choosing a preset workout it will show a menu that says “Today’s Exercises” just click on the check marks to delete particular exercises.
guess so far i’m the only one that thinks this thing is kind of boring. i perfer the wii fit. Also i found that if your squats aren’t showing you have to adjust the leg strap higher up on your leg. Hard to do unell you have thin legs. Thinking of trading my active in, i’d rather have a dance game where i’m moving more.
while the wii fit has more “fun” activities, it isn’t nearly equivalent to an actual workout. You have to stay in one place because of the wii board. With the active you are actually doing workouts in a gym with a personal trainor. Yeah the wii fit may be more fun, but I am actually looking to tone up my muscles whereas the wii fit doesn’t do that
Is anyone else having problems with the trainer audio. I can barely hear her and I have the trainer sound at 100 and the music at 20 and I can still hear the music a lot louder and the trainer sounds muffled.
There is a way to change the volume on the music and trainers. After you choose your profile on the bottom right hand tab it says help & settings, click on it then go to audio settings. There’s two tabs audio and trainer settings. Adjust from there.
Hope that helps.
