Samsung Alias 2: Verizon Wireless announces availability

We have known for some time about the upcoming release of the Samsung Alias 2, but now Verizon Wireless has officially announced the availability of the new handset. The Samsung Alias 2 is a dual-hinge mobile handset, and is the first in the U.S. to feature a mutable E Ink keypad.

For those of you who have not heard of a mutable E Ink keypad, it means that the keypad will change its configuration to match a certain application or a user’s action. The Alias 2 flip phone opens vertically and comes with a numeric keypad.

When the phone is in landscape mode the phone will then show a QWERTY keypad, ideal for those who message a lot or likes to check their emails.

Digital Trends tells us that the new Samsung Alias 2 costs $79.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate, which is on a two-year contract. The phone is available now.
