
AT&T confirmed it’s acquiring some Alltel assets from Verizon
By: Alan Ng | May 11, 2009 | Leave a CommentIt has been confirmed recently that AT&T is to buy some assets from Verizon Wireless. As part of the deal, AT&T will get spectrum licenses, cell towers and 1.5 million subscribers.
According to TheMoneyTimes, AT&T will need to upgrade their current connections to support a GSM service, as at the moment their phones are not compatible with Alltel or Verizon handsets.
Its meant to be a huge deal financially and is expected to be completed in two years. There are eighteen states in the US where AT&T will have to start upgrading their connections.
