Required: Apple iPhone 3.0 Compatibility
By: Peter Chubb | May 9, 2009 | Leave a CommentThings are set to get a little tough for developers, as Apple have told them that they will now only accept programs for the iTunes App Store if they are compatible with the new iPhone 3.0 OS software. This updated version of the iPhone Operating System was shown to us back in March and is due for release in the summer.
Information Week explains that the new 3.0 OS has multiple consumer-oriented features, the hottest of these include the much anticipated cut and paste and multimedia text capabilities. That means that we will now be able to send picture messages as well as forward on texts that have been sent to us.
This new software is aimed at making the iPhone the most attractive mobile platform for developers, as it offers more than a 1,000 new application programming interfaces. Apple has informed the developers that they will now only accept programs that work with the current 2.2.1 OS, as well as the upcoming 3.0.
