Amazon is leading the charge towards e-textbooks with its newly announced Kindle DX, but publisher are getting ready to feel the pain and face a profit challenge just as the sale of CDs are in the music industry.

Information Week explains that textbook publisher’s biggest challenge is with them joining several universities who are testing the usefulness of Amazon Kindle DX, they will be trying to find ways to make large amounts of money with these e-book readers.

We mentioned in a post earlier this week that Amazon announced the launch of its new bigger and better Kindle device, the DX. This is a more expensive version of its Kindle 2 e-reader, and apart from the much larger screen, it is packed with the latest technology needed for publishers.

That would be awesome but it’s not possible (yet).

It’s not set up to display color because they are using the e-ink technology which lessen strains on the eyes, increases battery life and makes the reading feel more like a book.

For reading, definitely Kindle is great at what it does but if you want a bit of everything, try a netbook (bit bigger but does all of those)
