June 5th, new Palm Pre phone release date rumor

We know for certain that Palm will release its new Pre smartphone in the summer, but we have never had an exact date, well according to the Boy Genius Report, Palm is launching the Pre on June 5th. This makes them either crazy or brave, as it is just one day before Apple’s WWDC 2009.

BGR are not saying that this report is 100 percent, but they have received news from an anonymous tipster that Palm has sent out an internal memo regarding the Pre. In the memo, it says that Palm will be holding a series of meetings from the 3rd to the 5th of June, which they are calling “LAUNCH LUNCH!”

Palm will not want to leave much time between the end of the meeting and the actual launch of the handset, as they would not want anything to leak from the meeting. So we could possible see the Palm Pre in stores on Friday June 5th, Saturday June 6th or Sunday June 7th. One thing that BGR added, June 7th is when Best Buy is due to begin its trial launch of the Pre.
