Rumor: Palm will not release the Pre in May as speculated

We are hearing from trade and press reports today that Palm will not release the Palm Pre in May like many suggested. Instead they will wait for the June 7th release date that has been all but confirmed.

As Zacks reports, Palm are also preparing to release a downsized, cheaper version of the Palm Pre called ‘the Pixie.’ Meanwhile, we have heard more news on the production costs of the Pre as consulting firm iSupply have suggested that the Pre will cost $170 to produce.

Zacks also state that the selling price of the Pre could be as high as $300 or more, meaning that over $100 or so will go to either Sprint or Palm.
