As the world prepares for the 4th generation of Apple iPhone, one of the big questions customers are wondering is, Which network will Apple decide to partner with?
According to this Phonesreview report, Verizon’s Ivan Seidenberg believes that their Verizon Wireless Network has a good chance of handling the new Apple iPhone 4G, thanks to new technology within their network.
The company may have made a mistake with Apple in the past, but they believe their 4G LTE network technology which GSM carriers such as AT&T and CDMA carrier Verizon are running, stands them in good stead for a possible deal with Apple.
Do you think the new iPhone will be available on AT&T or Verizon? Let us know your opinions and reasons why.

Ok well i think its going to stay on ATT because they have a 5 year contract with Apple so i dont think they would break that… And the 3.0 i dont think will be able to support a diff network… So good luck… And also Verizon has to change everything about the phone like they do with all there phones…. The home screen the way you navigate… All that “fun” stufff…
Not necessarily. While it’s true that Verizon DOES have certain requirements for durability (ie: shock proof, drop tests), with PDA’s they don’t change the function of the units. See the Blackberry Storm, Palm Centro, etc. They all support the developers’ initial programming. This is evident in way that Verizon does developer firmware updates in most of their stores.
Hopefully Apple chooses to utilize Verizon’s EVDO Rev A network, as I’ve heard they’re the only ones that can promise coast-to-coast 4G. Don’t quote me on that one, it comes from an employee.
i think apple might try doing a 50 50 parternship with both the networks
But , LG which proclaimed that they made the first touch screen before apple gave there phone the voger and there others first to verizon
Cause AT&T took in iphone in and agrreed with them
so its going to be a tough spot for apple and the 2 networks
apple has to chose the right one but if they pick the wrong one they could have major problems in money and other stuff
verizon has coast to coast coverage my service is amazing everywhere
Actually, At&t contract ends next year, and apple has already been looking for CDMA and LTE engineer’s to desgin the new Iphones (apple is on GSM) also apple originally wanted verizon for the deal, Verizon is the biggest and most reliable netowrk in the country and lastely apple is not happy with At&t service. I promise that verizon will have a new and better Iphone in 2010
i pick verizon
Verizon has worse service than AT&T, no questions asked. My Mom can’t even use her Verizon cell phone in her on own home, the calls just disconnect constantly. On the other hand, I can stroll in there on my iPhone for hours, no issues, never have dropped calls. Don’t just make promises and act as if you have adequate information to back them.
FAIL… It’s not the 4th generation of the iPhone… it’s the 3rd… The name 3G is only referring to the network that you did get correct later in the article… With that being said… I have no issues with At&t and my iphone… I had more issues with my phone on Verizon… then again I would love to see the iPhone on the Verizon network!!!
Well it would actually be the 2nd generation of the iPhone because the 3G was originally announced as iPhone 1.2 and this one is being announced as iPhone 2.0
Actually no..it isn’t the second generation or iPhone 2.0. If you pay attention it is the iPhone 3.0 because it has the new 3.0 operating system. It is just a “newer” updated version of the iPhone 3G.
OMG, your ment to disucssing the network provider NOT the version of the ipone, who give a sh*t.
“The name 3G is only referring to the network that you did get correct later in the article…”
You’re right, and 4G is the newest, fastest network. Verizon’s got the biggest one so far. Hence the iPhone 4G.
no, there was an iPhone 1generation-3, now the 4th iPhone is coming out 4 Verizon mid-June
personally i think its highly doubtful that additional networks will be supported. ATT is loving this whole thing way too much to let someone else have a piece of the pie. As for apple…as always: great product, horrible policy. They signed a deal with the devil, and now they are stuck.
I’d say ATT. but hey, no guarantee that ATT wont buy version somehow within the next decade…making this all moot.
well AT&T is geting too powerfully plus since the economy problems
AT&T can possible take Verzion down or it could happen vice verusa
But as i know of it At&T wont let iphone go in the hands of Verzion at all cost
besides apple has a contract with AT&T and if they break it big problems will happen with apple
Persons who want their iPhone to have the correct hardware to handl the new cross provider/device 4g network.
this is bogus..i think the concept of an iphone 4g is just a spoof that was leaked off a private server. apple’s contract with ATT isnt up until 2011 meaning iphone’s are exclusive to ONLY ATT. June 2009?? Impossible. 3g is a server not a generation. 4g is not a server meaning this is a hoax. People should learn more about networks and servers before they start arguing wrong information. For apple to be compatible with Verizon it has to be on a EV-DO server…4g isnt even possible technology. Don’t get ur hopes up with this 4g idea or even a new iphone for verizon anytime soon…apple signed with ATT and thats it.
Slow down turbo. The “iPhone” may be exclusive to AT&T, but Verizon wouldn’t be getting the “iPhone” until after the contract was up with AT&T was finished. Instead, Business Week (and later the USA Today) are reporting that APPLE might be making an iPhone like device (given the nickname iPhone lite) and another media type device that would utilize wifi for calls and run off of EV-DO. The idea being that the iPhone remains exclusive and Apple gets a larger market share and prepares the way for the next installment of the iPhone. The “iPhone lite” is not the iPhone and the exclusivity contract is for the iPhone not for all of APPLE.
This is all dependent on whether Verizon will even go for it due to the large amount of profit to be gained by the apps for the new device. Currently Apple retains all profits from the sale of apps on the iPhone which equals billions of dollars in revenue and Verizon wants a piece which may cause either side to back away from a potential deal.
Most of AT&T new customer base(1.4 million new customers) switch to AT&T specifically for the iPhone and if(when) Apple goes to Verizon it will be a crippling blow for stockholders of AT&T.
Apple’s contract is over next year, look up the information online, apple is already in talks with Verizon. Remeber, Verizon should have gotten the iphone first but the messed up.. Iphone for verizon is comming in 2010
Verizon and AT&T are both in the process of developing LTE (long term evolution). Also called 4g. It will be used by all major carriers except sprint. Verizon and ATT will stop using the current servers and begin using a faster service. It is only logical that the iphone could work for both providers. In fact the benefit for ATT could be the use of Verizon towers in a roaming fasion. The current contract was extended for only 1 year and is due to expire in 2010. Apple and ATT will keep their current relationship, as stated last week, yet the exclusiveness is due to expire. It must be tempting for apple to offer its phone to 80 million customers.
I just really hope that they bring the iphone to verizon. It is such a hassle for me to switch from verizon to at&t just to get the iphone. I think they should bring it to verizon and see how things go. I also think there are enough people that are waiting for, and wanting the iphone that it will do just fine, if not better, at verizon.
I live in a smaller community. All I can say about AT&T is, LESS bars, in more places.
Blackberry and verizon are a very good fit. Works well everywhere that counts. iPhone and verizon would be an unstoppable pairing. Hope it happens soon!
well i knooow its going to come out in at&t but i would much likely like it to be with verizon!
I hope that Apple figures out a way to partner with Verizon. To combine the best phone with the best network (at least in Consumer Report’s world, and my area, this is true) would be a game changer. While the original i-phone was pretty pricey, the apps now are so compelling and the price is dropping fast. IF Apple manages to work it out, the combination might evolve just like the cellphone did–move from being a toy of the technically adventurous or well-off, to being in everyone’s pocket. And can’t leave the house without it.
