Square-Enix have revealed that game engine work done on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of upcoming RPG Final Fantasy XIII were performed ’simultaneously.’
In an interview with Videogamer, Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase stated that work on the basic engine of the game for both versions will be made simultaneously.
As most of you are aware, the game will be released over in Japan first exclusively on PS3, then western versions for the PS3 and Xbox 360 will follow afterwards.
Kitase had this to say to Videogamer: “When it comes to the basic engine it’s likely we are going to keep them on the go simultaneously. But the finishing touches, the details, the PS3 version will be completed first, then we will move on to 360.”

Right… This man’s words sound completely believable, and he sounds extremely well-informed.
‘It’s likely’ - Hold on a second there, is that even a valid response? I mean, it’s likely there’s a heaven. It’s likely that within 10 years we’ll see new consoles. Is it a certainty? Do we know for sure?
Or, it’s likely that S-E is trying to play some PR cleanup, after pissing off every Sony customer outside of Japan, by making the Western fanbase wait for the 360 version to be completed. That could very well be the reason for this here statement. I hope FFXIII tanks. I really do. It’d be worth it to see S-E collapse.

dude wtf… chill
over reaction over a ******* video game!? i really dont see your mass emotions over it?
they started the game on PS3, do you not think they would finish it on that same console first!? plus its a bigger canvas to indeed finish it
on 360 ur dealing with DVDs on a more restricted console…
just ****** chill… you freak
I think you’re being a bit over sensitive. You want the game to tank and the whole company to go under cause ps3 owners have to wait for the 360 version to be completed?? take a chill pill and remember to breath.
hey, glad to agree
but i heard that theyll release PS3 version as soon as its finished… wont be waiting for 360
will make the game for both systems at the same time, but do all the nice stuff to PS3 first
im talking babble now… cant remember where i read it…
also heard as soon at PS3 version is done, they will just port it over to 360… :S
maybe not relevant but interestign all the same
once more… guy needs to chill
Apparently you folks don’t actually follow anything that’s said at all in the news. You just happened to wake up this morning and see this particular release. Fact is, S-E flat-out told everyone last year at E3, that while the game would launch simultaneously for the 360/PS3 in EU/NA, they stated the PS3 version would be finished first, and then they would work on the 360 version. This would be logical, considering the demo was released just recently.
However, this particular release, draws into doubt whether or not we’ll actually have a game that’s even remotely like the demo. You don’t make a demo for a game, that you’re still finishing the ‘basic game engine’ for. Why? Because you’ll likely end up with something completely different than the demo in the first place. You follow?
I want S-E to tank, because I’m sick of their bullshit. They sit there and make assertions about this and that, and then a year down the road, they backtrack and say something that completely undermines everything they’ve said previously. Additionally, their Director appears to have absolutely no GRASP over what his teams are actually doing, and their progress. Hence my incredulity over the line, ‘When it comes to the basic engine it’s likely we are going to keep them on the go simultaneously”…oh, it’s likely? That’s brilliant…you’ve no idea what your teams are doing…is basically what you’re saying?
LoL.

dude im hearing what ur saying but… wut?
They change their minds because their plan changed… If they see fit to go a different course then so what!? They are only keeping the fans updated…
If you do not consider yourself a fan of S-E then simply… do not buy this game, any other S-E game and do not keep yourself updated…
It’s their game at the end of the day, if you choose to invest into this software then quit the bitchin’… if not, then leave?
You can’t question how S-E manage their teams, they make some of the best games, ever.. whatever they’re doing, it right!
Do you not agree that people will argue either way? Whether they keep people updated or not…
Sorry if I rambled on a bit lol
well i’ve been keeping track of FF13 since i heard it was going to come out..and frankly yes im a little pissed off that its taking this effin long to come out…yes i know that its on next gen consoles but i mean a couple something years and all we get is a demo..that could not even be the same thing your gonna play when the game FINALY comes out. but as for the PS3/360 deal i dont know why people complain..honestly i think the game should be on the PS3 only..FF has dominated over the sony system and it seems to work for them. the only reason they would even think of puting it on the 360 is so existing FF fans that only own a 360 wont get all butt hurt and throw a fit. i myself work at a gamestop and own every system that they even sale.so yes i would buy it on the 360 if i didnt have a PS3 but i would be missing all the amazing things that can be done on blu-ray that cant be done with reguler DVD’s so i think that if they do happen to finish the PS3 version first and release it first then release the 360 version they might in the long run make a little bit more cash flow..but that S-E for ya. Money magnets…..
sorry for rambling.. just wanted to throw my input in there…
