Apple iPhone Outsold by BlackBerry Curve in 1st quarter
Filed under: Cell Phone Information, Cell Phones

The 1st quarter of 2009 has been great for Research in Motion’s BlackBerry Curve, as it has outsold the Apple iPhone. It seems strange to see the Curve as the best-selling consumer smartphone. The iPhone, which came in second, was closely followed by another two RIM models, the Storm and the Pearl.
Sfgate.com explains that RIM’s smartphone market has increased by 15 percent, so now stands at 50 percent. Apple’s market share has dropped by 10 percent. I think that I have an answer for this though, and that is because of all the rumors of a new iPhone.
Many consumers will now be holding of purchasing a new iPhone, as they fear that a new model will be launched in the summer, and they do not want to purchase the older model. I expect that the iPhone will begin to outsell the Blackberry Curve by the 3rd quarter.
