PS3 Trophies: Claims of underachievement compared to Xbox 360

By: Alan Ng | May 4, 2009 | 6 Comments

What do you think of Playstation 3 Trophies? Do you feel they match up to Microsoft’s Achievements and GamerScore? Destructoid have written an article stating why PS3 trophies have a long way to go if they are to match Xbox 360 achievements.

In their article, they explain how at this present stage, the PS3 does very little to make the Playstation Network feel like an identity towards the user, unlike the Xbox 360 does. They state the ongoing difficulties communicating with gamers as one of the main problems and compare to it to the Xbox 360 where the same tasks are easy to perform.

Do you agree with their article? Take a full read in the link above and let us know what your views on this are.

What does talking to friends have anything to do with achievements and trophies. Those are two different features. You can’t say that Achievements are better because you have in game voice chat with other gamers.

I think Trophies are cooler. Specially with the advent of the Platinum Trophy. You can quickly see how many games someone has completed.

Plus an RPG leveling system is better then a simple score.

Plus, you can send cross game messages. Which is good enough for me.

ok one vin your full of ****. your just pulling that fanboy crap “o i spend 500′s on a ps3 so it’s better”.
achievements can be shown and compared to any gamer anytime on xbox live and on xbox.com
you don’t have to leave the game or anything like that like the ps3
and also people take more pride in there gamerscore on live. what the hell does the ps3 have?
“o let me look at his trophies to see what games he plays.
you can also see all this on xbox lives gamer tag’s
and what is ps3′s gamertag’s? just a gay as sn with nothing special to it.

For your information I can lookup and compare trophies in-game. I don’t have to leave the game that I am playing.

I can also lookup my trophies online. I may not be able to compare them on the internet but oh well. I’d rather lookup my own versus someone else’s.

    Live has a gamer score
    PSN has a gamer level

Both represent the same thing. Your personnal asperation for completing in game tasks.

It’s not Sony or my fault that some PS3 gamers don’t attached them selves to their PSN Gamer Level.

My point was that I rather look at Trophies then just a single number.
