Microsoft Vista after Windows 7 Release

Microsoft are being asked how long they will keep selling copies of Windows Vista after the release of Windows 7, but the company is not saying. When Microsoft released other versions of their operating system, there was always a transition period to the new version.
This time will be different, Microsoft hopes that they will be able to put the ghosts of Vista behind them as soon as possible; it is thought that Microsoft could stop selling copies of Vista as soon as Windows 7 is released.
Those customers who purchase a PC with Windows 7 pre-installed will be able to downgrade to Vista, but I am not certain if many customers will want to do so. Support for all versions of Vista will stop on April 2012. Not long then compared to how long Microsoft has offered support for XP.
According to PC World, they reckon that Microsoft believes that Vista will not be missed, and I think that we have to agree with them on that one.

Windows 7 is looking great. I never buy a new OS when it releases, I upgrade when it comes pre-installed on a new PC, but I think Windows 7 will be a first.
