Best Buy: Palm Pre release date and price

One of the most asked questions just recently on the Internet is, when is the release date for the Palm Pre, and second is what will the price be. We love it when information gets leaked out, and retailer Best Buy might have give us a possibly release date and price.
The Palm pre will be available on Sprint, but as yet there has been no solid release date or price for the handset, but an unnamed source over at Best Buy has told BGR that the Pre smartphone will sell for $200 on a two-year contract, or $300 for those who are already customers of Sprint and wish to upgrade.
Sprint promised that the new Palm Pre will be released in the first half of 2009, but as yet, no specific date has been set. According to the source, the Pre will be available in a limited supply on June 7. It is not certain if this will be the launch day, as the first 4,500 units look as though they will be demo models.

I talked with a Sprint representative and a Sprint manager today and they said that the Palm Pre will NOT be released until November of this year. It appears that the 1st half of 2009 launch expectation is out the window.
They said that they received this info through there marketing division. I asked if there is any expectations of further deviation from a November date and he said that he was pretty confident of a November launch. I suspect that this could both be a big blow to Palm/Sprint and there sales, but could also provide more time to have a very successful launch or maybe even tweak there product a little to compete better with the newest iteration of the Apple iPhone. What I don’t understand is why the constant sightings of the Pre in the wild, and the very expensive ads from Sprint with the Pre cameos if the device won’t make it into customers hands until November? Stop teasing us already!

If what you say is true PreMan I will be canceling my account with sprint and going over to tmobile and getting unlimited calls to my fav 5 people that I want to and use a unlocked blackberry storm to do so. Sprint has dropped the ball on this one and I will not wait until November for a new dam phone thats just nuts….
Really?! You think a CDMA Blackberry Storm will work with a GSM Service provider?
I emailed dan@sprint.com today and he responded saying it’ll be out before November. J/K, but seriously… the second post is correct, stop freaking out.

my buddy is testing it now and yes that is his job for sprint.
he says it will be released for sale sometimes june 4-7
