
Palm Pre: Hard to predict demand for smartphone
By: Alan Ng | April 29, 2009 | 2 CommentsWith all the talk about the Palm Pre lately and when it will be released, many believe that its success will have a lot more significance to Palm and could determine the future of the company.
As reported from BusinessWeek, many analysts are predicting that the Palm Pre will go on to make a healthy profit from the units they sell. Their sources estimate that the Palm Pre will cost around $138 per unit to build. We are still unaware of the final price the Pre will retail for, but BW reckons it will be around the $200 mark, after a $100 subsidy.
BW also states that Palm may opt to release the Palm Pre before the announcement of Apple’s new iPhone is revealed.
