Hands on with iPhone OS 3.0 beta 4 and iTunes 8.2
By: Peter Chubb | April 29, 2009 | 1 CommentIt has only been a couple of weeks since the release of Apple’s iPhone OS 3.0 beta 3, and now the developer community has a chance to try out iPhone OS 3.0 beta 4, as well as iTunes 8.2 pre-release. Many people will now be wondering what is different about these latest releases.
Thanks to some of Engadget’s readers, they have been testing beta 4 and the first thing that they wanted to try out was the previously empty “Store” settings pane. In this new version of the OS, it is now populated, but do not get too excited as is pretty boring. All you can do is sign in and out of iTunes. That is about it on the iPhone OS 3.0 beta 4 side of things, keep checking back.
When you first start up the iTunes 8.2 pre-release you are now warned that the app would verify that your phone had been activated using the beta firmware, that did not happen on the previous version.
The Gracenote legal mumbo jumbo which appears in the About window now specifically calls out both DVD and Blu-ray metadata, Engadget are hoping that this is a sign of playback support.
