ATI XFX Radeon HD 4770: World’s first 40nm graphics card

It seems like we have been waiting a lifetime, but 40nm fabrication has finally been made available commercial for a GPU. The graphics card in question is the ATI XFX Radeon HD 4770, and has been labeled as the world’s first 40nm graphics card.

ATI had already stuck gold with their 55nm RV770 GPU almost a year ago, so how much better can the new GPU be. The card, which has the name RV740, and is not architecturally different from the older model, both cards even support the same features.

The ATI XFX Radeon HD 4770 as we know has been fabricated using the 40nm process. Techtree.com have an exclusive review on the GPU, they inform us that this comes with 640 stream processors just as the HD4830 does. ATI needed to keep costs down, this has been done by cutting the memory bus down from 256-bit to 128-bit.
