Pre-orders for an unlocked Palm Pre

Some big news now for all you Palm Pre fanatics out there. Palm has stated that a GSM version of the Palm Pre is currently in development. That’s all that one retailer had to hear as Pre-orders for an unlocked GSM Palm Pre are now in effect.

EverythingPre have pointed out that a European released date for the Palm Pre is expected within the next couple of months. Also, if the EU version features Quad Band, then the unlocked GSM version will function fine with any working US sim card.

So one retailer that has made the risky move is MobileCity. As you can see on their site here, they have started taking orders for unlocked GSM Pre’s for $699.
