With all the recent news of the release date for the upcoming Palm Pre, many have forgotten about what sort of price the Pre will cost customers. Today, Credit Suisse analysts have previewed the Palm Pre and made an estimated price for the phone.
According to this PhonesReview report, the price of the Palm Pre is likely to be set at $199, after any subsidies that will occur .
However, they have also mentioned that Sprint may choose to set a price tag to compete with the Apple iPhone. As a result of this, the Credit Suisse analysts have also predicted a $150 price tag for the Palm Pre, which would then make it cheaper than the Apple iPhone.
What price do you think the Palm Pre will be? Do you think $199 for the phone is reasonable? Let us know your thoughts below.

“many have forgotten about what sort of price the Pre will cost customers”.
Is it possible to forget what you don’t know???
$199, after subsubies? Nope, sorry…with no “app store” or support early on for an unproven phone. I’ll pass.
it’s funny I remember about 2 years ago a new phone was coming out which no one had any idea of what is was capable, no app store it wasn’t even 3g.. yet everyone flew to get one.. what was that phone again? OH yeah the iphone. now all of a sudden a new contender come out and apple fanboys are trying to come up with any reason at all to hate it. People like you make me want to punch someone sleuth. apple didn’t have a half-way decent app store for a year! now you have worthless crap like ifart to keep you entertained. how sad for you.
I don’t think that anything over $150 is acceptable. It is not like Sprint gives it’s customers options. This is the first smartphone that Sprint will be releasing in years (HTC not included) which has not been out on another network for months or that does not use inferior technology. They could cut their customers a break.
I would pay 500$ if i could get one tomorrow…… even with no apps at all… wifi/gps/internet/integrated messaging… thats all i need anyways.. plus i LOVE the keyboard on my centro… and also love the cracked webOS on my centro.. only thing im worried about is accessories…. so f’ing excited ahhh
I say 199 is a good price. It’s definitely going to be worth it from the videos i’ve seen so far. People lined up for a freaking $500 iPhone when it was first released, why complain about a $199 palm pre? ugh! I’m going a bit off topic but yea, $199 like i said, is a good price. Most smartphones are in that range anyways.
I really HATE the fact that the iphone is only available via AT&T. That kind of monopoly is never good for customers. It suppresses innovation and increases costs. And if the Pre is only available on the Sprint network, then I have similar opinion toward it. I’ll consider either of them if and when they are willing to play fair by moving out of exclusive monopolistic tendencies. As for price, $199 is an inflated price for ANY phone considering the amount you have to pay per month for subscriptions!
I agree with Chris and dude that I’m ready to buy the Palm Pre phone at $400. But I do believe to stay competitive, the price point will have to be $150-199. This phone will get me back to Palm after being away for a couple years… Go Pre!!!
I am going to buy a Pre. The phone looks really good. This is the first smart phone that will compete with the Iphone. You have to agree that the phone has some great technology. That will force apple to do some freaking changes on the Iphone. I mean come on. It took apple two years to add the copy and paste option. They did not care. I bet you they are going to start to care now that there is a new kid on the block. Plus by not buying an Iphone i am avoiding another car payment. LOL
Hey…
Definitely the most awaited phone, rather a surprise from PALM.
I was thinking that it should be cheaper then iPhone but after reading about the iPhone patents, i think Palm would have to pay a hefty royalty to Apple making it a little expensive.
I hope this phone is launched globally, unlike the iPhone which was launched only in US for almost a year.
