Windows XP is now eight years old and she does not look a day over seven, the operating system still powers at least 71 percent of all PCs around the world, this comes from a recent report from Forrester. Microsoft now has a hard job on its hands, as they now have to convince all of its users to upgrade to Windows 7, and those in IT will be the hardest to convince.
Microsoft know that the enterprise sector will be very hard to convince, the reason being that they still love Windows XP, oh and the small thing of money. The problem is we are in a troubled economy, and getting people to part with extra cash is going to be a hard task, even for Microsoft.
PC World has said that Dimensional Research conducted a recent survey of 1,100 IT professionals. 72 percent of those asked said that they were more concerned of upgrading to Windows 7 than staying with XP, which as we know is an outdated OS.
The problem is the clock is now ticking for XP, and with the arrival of Windows 7, that means that XP is two operating systems out of date. Mainstream support for XP has been extended long after its life cycle, which will stop very soon.
