It has been revealed that Nintendo Wii console sales over in Japan have now passed the 8 million mark. The figure was revealed by Enterbrain, who publish top Japanese magazine Famitsu. How do the sales compare with the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 though?
As reported from PCworld, the Nintendo Wii has performed very well since it’s launch way back in December 2006. So far the Playstation 3 has managed 3 million units sold since it’s launch, while Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console has only managed to pass 1 million units so far.
While Nintendo are currently going through an ‘unhealthy sales‘ period, as they are entitled to now and again, its still important to point out that the Wii has sold more hardware units than the Xbox 360 and PS3 combined.
As PCworld states that growth might be slowing for Nintendo at the moment, theres plenty of time for them to shift the balance back in their favour.
