Apple iTunes app store hits 1 billion downloads
By: Peter Chubb | April 23, 2009 | Leave a CommentWe mentioned in a post yesterday that Apple iTunes will sometime today reach 1 billion downloads, well we can now tell you that the one billionth app has been downloaded, who knows you might be the one who downloaded that magic number.
Once the billionth app has been download Apple will change its landing page, you will then be greeted by the message “Thanks a billion. Over a billion downloads in just nine months. Only on the App Store.” We are not sure how accurate Apple can be with this counter, maybe the one billionth has already been hit but is taking Apple this long to count them.
Apple know that without you the user then the iTunes App Store would not be what it is today, and as a thank you for every app that you download you will get the chance to win a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card, as well as a number of other gifts, such as a iPod touch, MacBook Pro or Time capsule.
