T-Mobile USA will launch its Sidekick LX 2009 on May 13, and the phone has managed to find that perfect balance with consumers and business users. The original Sidekick was launched back in 2002 and the hip swivel-design was a hit with the youngsters, but the 2009 model will now gain some much-needed respect from business users.
It is not just the design that will prove popular with business users; it is also some of the cool software features, such as support for Exchange e-mail through Microsoft’s ActiveSync, something that T-Mobile will launch shortly after the launch of the Sidekick LX 2009.
Computer World reports that the new handset looks as though it has been made for everyone, but the website warns that analysts have a problem with the operating system as it is owned by Microsoft Corp. This is something that puts it off-limits for IT shops they do not want to work through a carrier to add applications.
Gartner Inc. analyst, Ken Dulaney, has said that the Sidekick LX should not be called a smartphone.
