We know that the release of the Palm Pre smartphone is imminent; this has lead to Sprint’s rival, AT&T to stockpile ammo ready for a Pre vs. iPhone 3G skirmish. The Apple iPhone carrier has reportedly spread an internal document that details the comparisons of the two smartphones.
TechSpot goes on to say that, this internal document makes the Pre out to be no more than just a paperweight. It seems that AT&T will resort to dirty tactics to discredit a phone, but will this be enough to turn consumers against the Pre.
AT&T do raise some great arguments as to some of the drawbacks of the Palm Pre, the first being its touch screen control gestures, which are not intuitive. Compare that to the Apple iPhone, which has the patented multi-touch screen with fast and responsive navigation. The carrier also states that the Pre only has “limited” free Wi-Fi access, compared to AT&T’s Wi-Fi hotspots.
Other areas where the iPhone is better than the Pre are, the iPhone 3G is thinner and lighter, the Pre also lacks roaming capabilities outside of the US.

Isn’t “intuitive” in the eye of the beholder? How can anyone say definitively that something is or isn’t intuitive, especially regarding the Pre’s touch screen control gestures which appear to be very similar to the iPhone’s?
