Oracle Buys Sun: Who wins and who loses?

Oracle completed their $7.4 billion takeover of Sun Microsystems on the 20th April, but who exactly are the winners and losers of the deal? BusinessWeek has compiled their list for you to examine.

In their article, which you can read in full here, they have started with Oracle being one of the obvious winners of the deal. Business week believes ‘Oracle’s shareholders will still be well-served in the end’.

The next winner of the deal is Microsoft. They talk about Sun’s loyal install base and talk about how difficult it could prove for Oracle to get more business from Microsoft, due to IBM, Dell and other computer makers.

Losers of the deal include employees of Sun and how this whole takeover is going to affect them. BW states though that ‘Oracle assures shareholders the deal will be “accretive”.’
