Last week the Windows Mobile blog announced that Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.5 would be released on May 11, but it seems that this article was taken out of context as the word Launch was not the correct word. It looks as though the release date for Windows Mobile 6.5 will not be in May after all.
Information Week has been looking into the original article, which we have also read, and it actually states that Stephanie Ferguson from Business Experiences at Microsoft Mobile Communications Business will actually be kicking off the launch presentation of Windows Mobile 6.5 on Monday, May 11, 2009.
Information Week like so many was skeptical when they read the post about a May launch, until they read the original article as Windows Mobile 6.5 only passed beta phase in February. Not even the mighty Microsoft will be able to rush an OS out that quick.
As yet there is no set release date for the new mobile OS, but it should be sometime in the third quarter of 2009.
